09 Mar WA Event Risk Management: Planning for COVID
Riskwest will be delivering a session on risk management associated with event planning and delivery – in association with Parks and Leisure Australia (WA) – on the 24th March 2021 at the Boulevard Centre in Floreat.
Given the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the importance of identifying, analysing, assessing and managing uncertainly in an event planning and delivery context is even more critical than usual. We have now, over a prolonged period of time, witnessed the cancellation or postponement of events globally across multiple sectors (e.g. in sports, arts and entertainment). In the context of WA based-events, the considerations, risks, and implications have been multiple (e.g. a disinclination for invited acts to travel, reduced patronage or visitation, supply chain challenges, regular and unannounced changes to the information being provided to patrons prior to the event, changes in government policy, increased vigilance/health provision and the financial loss associated with potential event cancellation or postponement). However, as we look to a ‘new normal’ this workshop will address the options that best manage downside risk and embrace opportunity.
