BS 65000 ‘Organisational Resilience’ Standard

Early August witnessed the close of the British Standards Institute (BSI) public consultation on the new standard for ‘Organisational Resilience’ known as BS 65000. The BS 65000 standard aims to connect the disciplines of Risk, Business Continuity and Crisis Management. It seeks to deliver improved outcomes for organisations, through focussing on issues presented by other business processes such as Information Communications Technology (ICT) to help establish a better strategic context for decision making and enable more integrated planning to protect and develop value. The Organisational Resilience Standard is a guidance standard that works by aiming to help management understand more thoroughly how strategic and operational risks interact and how integrated approaches can deliver more effective management capability.
